Direction from Brethren...

posted Mar 06, 2017 06:17:19 by KellyLifferth
I am the Ward Mission Leader in my ward and the Stake President has obtained direction from the brethren, in our case Elder Ballard, to start putting together an updated map regarding the households in our ward boundaries and what their situation is (Part member, Full member, non-member). They really seem to be concerned that we understand what our ward boundaries needs are. It feels like they are asking us to really get in touch with people...who knows what else is driving this, but I find it interesting that it is coming down from so high up.

That is interesting. It shows, to me, that our leaders are not just for the LDS, but the Prophet and Apostles for both member and nonmember.

It would make meeting immediate needs more viable and give a base of information to start with too.

This falls right in line with Home and Visiting Teaching ... "teach in the Savior's way," which is to just be friends and love those around you! It has streamlined and simplified everything! It's really not hard to be kind and neighborly. This is obviously getting us prepared to care for those around us.

Interestingly, our Ward and Stake have had these Ward maps with that type of information for at least 15 years, (says my husbamd). Also about 5 yrs. ago, our Ward started handing out Emergency packets with information about what to do if any of the local dams were to breach, or nuclear fallout occurred from the site, plus a booklet of information about local Ward leaders, their names, numbers and so forth. * I think we (the church) learned a lot when the Teton Dam burst back in 1976.

Wish we had people that cared that much.
