Do you believe you can?

posted Mar 06, 2017 04:20:02 by David.Clark
My mom raised us on this quote.
โ€œYou can do as much as you think you can,
But you'll never accomplish more;
If you're afraid of yourself, young man,
There's little for you in store.
For failure comes from the inside first,
It's there, if we only knew it,
And you can win, though you face the worst,
If you feel that you're going to do it.โ€

If you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right. -Henry Ford

Mindset is a powerful thing.

This dovetails into a discussion on the Law of Abundance I was talking about with a co-worker recently. There were several "big ticket items" my wife and I have wanted to get over the years. The most recent was a GeoShelter tent. It was several thousand dollars more than we had any expectation of being able to save for, yet we felt strongly that was something that Heavenly Father wanted us to do.

So we downloaded a bunch of photos of the model we wanted from their website and printed them out. I had pictures of "my tent" in the bedroom, the bathroom, in the blue shaded area of my truck's windshield, and on the desktop of my computers at home and at work. I saw that tent everywhere, all day long, for most of a year.

Then the miracle happened and some totally unexpected money came into our family. We went down to their offices and paid cash (yes, green paper money) for the tent. We had decided we could, and that we should, and that it was attainable. We visualized it every day. It came to us in an unexpected way, but it came nonetheless.

The Law of Abundance works if you believe it can.

Thank you for this quote. It was great encouragement for me. I love piano music and have always wanted to take lessons. I am taking lessons from my talented daughter right now. It is amazing how the fear within distracts me when I am trying to perform in front of her during my lessons. She wants me to perform more in front of others now. Scarey! This is one of the internal fears that I am working on right now.

Love this! So awesome Bob, great example. "As a man thinketh, so is he".

Here's a recent BYU devotional talk about the power of what we tell ourselves. It has some powerful information on being positive about what we can accomplish. Plus, the speaker's Aussie accent is pretty cool!

YES! IT IS ABSOLUTELY TRUE. We've bought a half dozen cars the way Bob described. My sons have increased outcomes on their mission by it. And in the end I believe it is our thoughts (positive or negative) and our emotions that literally create our experience. I don't claim to have a 100% knowledge of how, but since I have worked on thoughts, emotions, and actions, my life has changed dramatically. Every word we speak creates something. So do we want to experience lives of creation or destruction?

We also took a trip to Israel a few years ago ($10,000 to go for both of us). We did not have the money or a way for the money 9 months before the trip. But out friends leading the tour encouraged us "We will join our faith with yours, YOU ARE GOING!" And we did. My income has doubled, tripled, quadrupled by not only having faith, seeing with a vision, but by increasing tithes and offerings. You really can CREATE your life!!!

God wants to bless us brothers and sisters. We are meant to have joy. Trials are only a small part of life. There's a quote by Elder Scott to that affect to I believe.

Just a saying I made years ago for my son
and put it on a plaque for him.
He now has it on his office desk
and it has become a family saying.

"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
Philippians 4:13

"Just Do It"
Spencer W. Kimball
โ€œJust Do Itโ€ became his catch phrase and it became the
motto of Mormons everywhere.

"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
Philippians 4:13
