An invitation: Join Us in the 90 Day Remnant Rebirth

posted Mar 11, 2017 18:24:15 by MichaelClaridge
This is my first time posting, but I've been a long-time lurker. I've been on a personal journey that has been benefited tremendously by your examples of faith and humility. I owe you all a debt of gratitude.

For the last year or so I have been coauthoring a blog with my son Lindon called You can learn more about the blog and my son on the about page.

This post is not an advertisement for our blog, but an invitation to join us on our "next step."

This last week I read a powerful quote by Gordon B. Hinckley that has led me to ask the Lord what my "next step" should be.

"The challenge which faces every member of this Church is to take the next step, to accept that responsibility to which he is called, even though he does not feel equal to it, and to do so in faith with the full expectation that the Lord will light the way before him." (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Gordon B. Hinckley, 2016, Chapter 25)

The 90 Day Remnant Rebirth is what the Holy Spirit led me to this week, and I would love to invite you all to join me and my son as we are reborn in Christ these next 90 days.

Sounds amazing Michael. What do you anticipate this journey to entail? I'm interested.

Love this.
"There is an awakening happening, and there most certainly
is an outpouring of the Spirit.
The Lord is calling His Remnant. They are awakening to the call."
"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
Philippians 4:13

Wow I don't know if I'm in a place of strength to do this yet, but I really want to! I already feel overwhelmed with school and work and research, but I KNOW that what you give to the Lord he multiplies! So count me in!

Just something to think about:
Research has actually shown that sharing your goals with people is highly correlated with failure to accomplish the end result. Kinda weird!

You're right. It's associated with a release of dopamine. When you tell someone you're planning to do something, your body releases some dopamine that makes you feel good about this plan you've made. Problem is, for some people, that release of dopamine is all they need, and they later unconsciously decide they don't need to actually do the good thing in order to enjoy and feel good about having planned to do it. Weird chemical thing... but true.

We all know people who constantly talk about the things they're planning to do, but never actually do them. Now you know why. They love the surge of dopamine they get when they talk about the things they're planning to do.

I hope this Ted talk is clean. I haven't listened to it, but my brother raves about this one.

This sounds wonderful. It'll have to wait until after conference for me, as I am deep in following through with Pres. Nelson's charge to read every scripture about Christ as outlined in the Topical Guide, AND every conference talk before General Conference.

Hope you do it again for us late comers.

Alicia (and everyone else),
You can start anytime you wish. Just start! That's what counts. And if we can be here to help you, support you, lift you when you need it - let us know.

One heart, that's what we are striving for.

Julie, Thank you. If you are ever in need of a pick-me-up read one of Lindon's stories. He has a way of putting everything into beautiful perspective.

@Alicia I'm doing that as well. If you ever feel like sharing your thoughts, I would love to hear them.

I've been fasting today and had several insights that I have felt prompted to add to my life for the 90 Day Remnant Rebirth:

1. To perform an act of service to one new person each day. This means I'll have to pray for opportunities to serve to present themselves, and be extra aware of opportunities as they arise, and be in tune to the Holy Spirit and not postpone promptings to give service. It's going to be quite the challenge. I'm excited.

2. I was inspired by Alicia to follow Pres. Nelson's admonition to search the scriptures for citations of Christ. There's more than 2,200 in the Standard Works, that's about 25 citations a day for the next 90 days. I tell you, this is going to be great!

I'm not sharing to pat myself on the back, but more to give you ideas. You know, prime the pump, so to speak.

Now, go take on the challenge and see what the Spirit tells you.

Awesome! I'm doing other great challenges as well as others have mentioned, but I might have to bump this to the top of my list.
