Planet X/Niburu - Need a summary

posted Mar 21, 2017 15:17:33 by DanB
This topic is new to me and I don't know anything about it, but I would enjoy hearing from those who do know more.

I know that there is stuff on the internet and youtube, but I just don't go there anymore due to the influence of money on internet and particularly youtube content. I don't feel I can trust any of the information because I believe that the primary goal of most of these sites is to drive clicks. So they will sensationalize everything to drive views.

So, is there some doctrinal background for this planet thing?

I have a powerful testimony of the restored gospel, but I admit that I'm am trying to overcome my "unbelief" and I am a skeptic by nature.

Thanks in advance,

The Second Coming - planet X

A Joseph Smith prophesy about a planet in relation to
the return of Jesus Christ.
The Lord says:
D&C 88:93
93 And immediately there shall appear a great sign in heaven,
and all people shall see it together.

What is this great sign in heaven that everyone is going to see?
Chapter 21: The Second Coming and the Millennium

Teachings of Joseph Smith
The signs of the Savior’s coming are being fulfilled;
the faithful will recognize these signs and have peace
in perilous times.

“Judah must return, Jerusalem must be rebuilt, and the temple, and water come out from under the temple, and the waters of the Dead Sea be healed [see]. It will take some time to rebuild the walls of the city and the temple, etc.; and all this must be done before the Son of Man will make His appearance. There will be wars and rumors of wars, signs in the heavens above and on the earth beneath, the sun turned into darkness and the moon to blood, earthquakes in divers places, the seas heaving beyond their bounds;
then will appear one grand sign of the Son of Man in heaven.
But what will the world do?
They will say it is a planet, a comet, etc.
But the Son of Man will come as the sign of the coming of the Son of Man, which will be as the light of the morning cometh out of the east."
-- Brother Joseph Smith
General Conference April 1843.
The Prophet On The Second Coming Of The Christ.

Luke 17: 26-27 NIV
26 “Just as it was in the days of Noah,
so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man.
27 People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all."

Could this scripture be taken literally.
What if the Lord used planet X to destroy the earth
with water the first time, and now with it coming again
the earth will be burned with fire this time.

Chapter 1

Nahum speaks of the burning of the earth at the Second Coming and of the mercy and power of the Lord.

5 The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt,
and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world,
and all that dwell therein.

Within this enlarged view of a celestial uniformity, the worldwide flood of Noah’s time, so upsetting to a restricted secular view, fits easily into place. It is the earth’s baptism. Brigham Young pointed out that the earth “abides the law of its creation, has been baptized with water, will be baptized by fire and the Holy Ghost, and by-and-by will be prepared for the faithful to dwell upon” (in Journal of Discourses, 8:83).

The law for a world such as ours closely parallels the law for its inhabitants. Like each of us, the earth existed for a time in the presence of God in a premortal, uncorrupted condition. Like each of us, it entered a fallen, mortal condition. Like us, it must be sanctified by being born again, first of the water and then of the Spirit. The earth has been cleansed by water baptism, and its cleansing by fire associated with the last days will allow the Holy Spirit to dwell throughout the whole earth during the Millennium when the earth, not yet glorified, will be sanctified. For the earth, as for us, the work of salvation can only be completed through death, which will alter its mortal structure, followed by a glorious resurrection, which will establish it upon celestial principles that it may abide in that glory forever.

JD 8:83, Brigham Young, June 12, 1860

This earth, in its present condition and situation, is not a fit habitation
for the sanctified; but it abides the law of its creation,
has been baptized with water, will be baptized by fire and the Holy Ghost, and by−and−by will be prepared for the faithful to dwell upon.
"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
Philippians 4:13

I am torn on this interpretation, because the church does not take an official position.

When I read Rev 12, the only background given is from Joseph Smith that the chapter is is relation to the restoration of the gospel, but it opens with "as a sign in heaven"....

So, after many youtube videos, many websites, I favor this one the most. John Pratt is not only LDS, but an astronomer. He brings in some very interesting points about past history of the stars falling from the sky during the time of the early Saints and that was the fulfillment of a part of Rev 12.

There is more that he presents that so many others miss. It also shows me that prophecies in Rev can already be fulfilled! It doesn't need to be in our lifetime. Here you go:

Gill Broussard has a lot of good information about it, too. Find him via Google, or on Facebook.

That was very interesting Shelle. He's a real asset to the LDS community. His knowledge is unique and he helps correlate the scriptures with the signs in the heavens and even our restorations history, and now pointing to the short term future. It seems unlikely that so many things could sync together without the intension and influence of God. Quite remarkable really. Thx!

We've all heard of Wormwood. It will devour the trees and grass and the seas will be effected greatly by it as well. Planet X, or Nibiru is also called Wormwood.

I think when Joseph Smith says that people will see a great sign and think it's a planet, it doesn't mean that they are really seeing Christ and thinking Christ is a planet.... that just seems weird. It has to be that Christ is associated with the planet somehow.

There are other hints of it in teachings of the Apostles and leaders, but I would have to go home to my journal to see what I wrote down. I'll post later.

It's my understanding that it will be the full glory of Jehovah that will cause the earth to be cleansed by fire. I don't think this aspect requires a scientific explanation. Am I mistaken?

D&C 133:41
for the presence of the Lord shall be as the melting fire that burneth, and as the fire which causeth the waters to boil.

The earth being cleansed by the glory of the Lord is my understanding, as well. It will be beautiful for those who can abide His presence.

Geeeze Dan, I just realized I was not answering your question about Nibiru (my mind went directly to the Virgo Constellation).

Yes, Planet X is coming into our solar system. I find it interesting that NASA tried to hide it moving towards us for a few years. They know it is messing up our weather, but wanted to blame it on global warming.

Last I read, it is very large and will come close to the earth late April or early May. I read that anything that comes into our system will cause the earth to shake (which in turn causes EQ's, tsunami's and volcanoes).

Did you all know that Chernobyl means Wormwood in Russian. (Just a bit of an aside)
